Gratitude and ideas for the new year
It's been a roller coaster of a year. 2023 was highlighted by an emerging Middle East war and the continuation of the Ukraine-Russia war. More at home, political decisiveness might soon tear the US apart. American stresses have reached boiling points: I'm sure you can feel it just walking down the street. Markets were tested with a major correction and returned with a major recovery; faith in the investing process prevailed once again.
On a lighter note, this will be my 7th year of running Eureka Wealth Management. This has been a fantastic journey and I couldn't ask for more wonderful clients. Over this time, there were three big market corrections and Brexit; some of the most turbulent moments during my business, and yet faith prevailed.
The message I took to heart is that faith is what my 2024 theme will be. We will be tested in politics, global conflict, and market turbulence. Faith that we will all end up okay is paramount for our mental well-being and our purpose in living.
Despite increasing global conflict, 2024 appears to be a recovery in the making. The US and Europe are posed to reverse their rate hikes, bringing lending back into the marketplace, reducing mortgage rates, stimulating bonds and stocks, and bringing more wealth to investment portfolios. AI, despite doomsayer warnings, could offer support for new businesses and replace repetitive tasks that take the joy out of working. There's much to be excited about in the year ahead.
My New Year idea is to continue to look inward. Preserving mental health, creating meaningful purpose, and fulfilling connections will be what's needed to get us through the continued chaos.
Thank you to all those who have supported me since I started my practice in Palm Springs in 2017. If you know of others who could benefit from my financial planning services, please put us in touch. As always, book a meeting with me if you have any questions about your financial plan or concerns about the future.
I look forward to partnering with you again in the new year.
Sincerely,
Matt Davis CFP
